How can ArcMap merge two databases?

In ArcMap, you can utilize the “Merge” tool to combine two databases.

Here are the steps:

  1. Open the ArcMap software and create a new blank map.
  2. In the “toolbox” window, expand “Data Management Tools” -> “Merge”.
  3. Double-click to open the “Merge” tool.
  4. Select the first database you want to merge in the pop-up dialog box.
  5. In the “Input Layers or Feature Classes to Merge” field, click on the drop-down arrow to select the layers or feature classes to merge.
  6. Click on the “Add” button to add layers or feature classes to the list of “Layers or feature classes to merge”.
  7. Repeat steps 4-6, selecting the second database and layer or feature class to merge.
  8. In the “Output Layer or Feature Class” section, select an output location and name to save the merged results.
  9. Click the “Run” button to begin the merging process once you have confirmed that the settings are correct.

During the merge process, ArcMap will combine layers or feature classes from two databases to create a new database.

It is important to note that during the merging process, there may be field conflicts where the same attribute names in two databases may have different properties. In such cases, one can choose to keep the attribute from one database or resolve the conflict through field mapping.
