Java Yield Method: Purpose & Usage

In Java, the yield method is used to pause the currently executing thread to allow other threads with the same priority to run. It provides a mechanism to improve thread scheduling and prevent thread starvation. When a thread calls the yield method, it gives up its CPU usage but remains in a ready state, waiting to be reassigned CPU time by the scheduler. Calling yield method does not release a lock, so caution must be taken to avoid deadlocks when using it.
