There are two commonly used wildcards.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Percent sign (%): Represents zero or more arbitrary characters.<\/li>\n<li>Underscore (_): represents a single arbitrary character<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Wildcards are usually used together with the LIKE operator for conducting fuzzy searches in the WHERE clause, with the following syntax:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"post-pre\"><code><span class=\"hljs-keyword\">SELECT<\/span> column_name(s)\r\n<span class=\"hljs-keyword\">FROM<\/span> table_name\r\n<span class=\"hljs-keyword\">WHERE<\/span> column_name <span class=\"hljs-keyword\">LIKE<\/span> <span class=\"hljs-keyword\">pattern<\/span>;\r\n<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>Here, column_name is the name of the column to be queried, table_name is the name of the table to be queried, and pattern is the pattern to be matched.
