Logical Volumes can be formatted with a file system and used for storing data. A Volume Group (VG) is a collection of Logical Volumes made up of one or more Physical Volumes. Volume Groups provide flexible storage management by combining multiple Physical Volumes into one group, increasing storage capacity and performance, and achieving high availability and redundancy of data. In Linux, Logical Volume Management (LVM) can be used to manage Physical Volumes, Logical Volumes, and Volume Groups.
