For example, to get the next adjacent element, you can use following-sibling::*[1].<\/li>\n<li>By using the preceding-sibling axis in XPath, you can specify preceding-sibling:: in the expression and then follow it with the tag name or wildcard * of the adjacent element to retrieve the neighboring elements. For example, to retrieve the previous adjacent element, you can use preceding-sibling::*[1].<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Here is an example XPath expression that retrieves the next adjacent element of the current element.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"post-pre\"><code><span class=\"hljs-literal\">following-sibling::<\/span>*[<span class=\"hljs-number\">1<\/span>]\r\n<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>Similarly, you can use &#8220;preceding-sibling::*[1]&#8221; to retrieve the previous adjacent element of the current element.<\/p>\n<p>Note: The above method assumes that neighboring elements are siblings at the same level, and no other elements are inserted in between.
