The remainder operator calculates the remainder when the dividend is divided by the divisor, and assigns the result to the variable named result.<\/p>\n<p>For example, let&#8217;s say we want to find the remainder when we divide 10 by 3:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"post-pre\"><code><span class=\"hljs-type\">int<\/span> <span class=\"hljs-variable\">result<\/span> <span class=\"hljs-operator\">=<\/span> <span class=\"hljs-number\">10<\/span> % <span class=\"hljs-number\">3<\/span>;\r\n<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>The result of the calculation is 1, because 10 divided by 3 equals 3 with a remainder of 1.<\/p>\n<p>Another important thing to note is that the remainder operator has the same sign as the dividend.
