In C language, a union is a special data type that allows storing different data types at the same memory location. A union can have multiple members, but only one member can be used at a time.<\/p>\n

There are several ways in which the the term “union” can be used:<\/p>\n

  1. Save memory space: Since a union can only store one member at a time, it can be used to store different data types in different contexts without increasing memory usage.<\/li>\n
  2. Data type conversion: Using a union, it is possible to convert data from one type to another without changing the data in memory.<\/li>\n
  3. Creating a union within a struct allows for different members to have different data types, but only allows for one member to be used at a time.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Here is an example of using a union:<\/p>\n
