This allows DB2 to retain information about the released space after data deletion in order to efficiently reuse that space in the future.<\/p>\n<p>To free up space in the tablespace immediately, you can perform the following actions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Use the following command to force DB2 to immediately release space:<\/li>\n<li>Reduce the size of the tablespace named <tablespace_name>.<\/li>\n<li>This will compel DB2 to release the space of deleted data in the table space.<\/li>\n<li>If there are multiple tables in the table space, you can also use the following command to reorganize the table space to free up space.<\/li>\n<li>Reorganize the tablespace named <tablespace_name>.<\/li>\n<li>This will reorganize tables in the tablespace and reallocate space, freeing up space for deleted data.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Please note that the above operation may impact the performance of the database, so please make sure to have appropriate backups and testing done before execution.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, delayed space release is an optimization feature of DB2 that typically does not have a significant impact on database performance.
