When the value to be dropped at a digit is less than 5, simply drop the digit without carrying over.<\/p>\n

Carry over when the value of the place to be discarded is greater than 5.<\/p>\n

There are two situations when the value of the digit to be discarded is equal to 5.<\/p>\n

  1. Carry over if there are non-zero digits after 5.<\/li>\n
  2. If there are no non-zero digits following a 5, or if all digits following a 5 are zeros, then rounding will be based on the set precision, such as rounding up, rounding down, or rounding towards zero.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
