Using the volatile keyword ensures that the field remains consistent across multiple threads and prevents data inconsistency.<\/p>\n<p>When a field is marked as volatile, the compiler will generate a memory barrier to ensure that read and write operations on that field are atomic, preventing compiler optimizations and ensuring correctness in a multithreaded environment.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to note that the &#8220;volatile&#8221; keyword can only be used for fields, not for local variables or method parameters. In addition, the &#8220;volatile&#8221; keyword can only guarantee visibility and atomic operations for fields, not atomicity.
