Installation and setup of a Windows Server 2012 Active Directory domain controller.
If you want to set up and install a Windows Server 2012 AD domain, you can follow these steps:
- Download the Windows Server 2012 ISO image file and burn it onto a CD, or use virtual machine software (such as VMware or VirtualBox) to create a virtual machine and mount the ISO file.
- Start the server or virtual machine and select to boot from the CD.
- After the installation program starts, choose your language, time, and currency format, then click “Next”.
- Click on the “Install” button to start the installation process.
- Read and accept the license agreement, then click “Next”.
- On the installation type selection screen, choose “Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)”.
- Choose the disk partition to install Windows on, and then click “Next”.
- The system will install automatically, please wait for the installation process to finish.
- The system will automatically restart after the installation is completed.
- After the restart, the system will prompt you to set a password for the Administrator account. Create a secure password and then click “OK”.
- Log in to the Windows Server 2012 system.
- Open the “Server Manager” and click on “Add Roles and Features”.
- In the “Add Roles and Features Wizard”, click on “Next”.
- Choose either “role-based installation” or “feature-based installation”.
- Select “Active Directory Domain Services” in the “Server Roles” interface.
- Click on “Add Features” in the popup of the “Add Roles and Features Wizard” dialog box.
- On the “Server Roles” interface, choose “Active Directory Domain Services”.
- The system will automatically select the required role services, click “Next”.
- Click on “Next” in the “Features” interface.
- On the “AD DS” interface, read the relevant information and then click “Next”.
- Click on “Install” on the “Confirm Installation Selection” screen.
- The installation process will take some time, please be patient.
- Click “Close” after installation is complete.
- Click on “Finish” in the “Server Manager”.
- In the server manager, click on “Tools” and select “Active Directory Users and Computers” to manage your domain.
You have now successfully set up and installed the Windows Server 2012 AD Domain Controller. You can now create and manage users, computers, and other domain objects on this server.
