Install Repoforge (RPMforge) on CentOS

To install RPMforge on CentOS system, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Firstly, log in to your CentOS system as the root user.
  2. Make sure your system has the wget command installed. If it is not installed, you can use the following command to install it:
  3. install wget using yum
  4. Download and import the GPG key for RPMforge, then execute the following command:
  5. Import the RPM-GPG-KEY.dag.txt key from http://apt.sw.be.
  6. Download the RPMforge installation script that is suitable for your CentOS version and run the following command:
  7. Download the rpmforge-release package version 0.5.3-1 for x86_64 architecture from the repoforge repository by using the wget command.
  8. Note: The URL in the above command may need to be modified according to your CentOS version and architecture.
  9. To install the downloaded RPMforge installation script, run the following command:
  10. Install the RPMForge release version 0.5.3-1 for x86_64 architecture on CentOS 8.
  11. Please replace rpmforge-release-0.5.3-1.el7.rf.x86_64.rpm in the command with the actual filename you downloaded.
  12. After installation is complete, you can use the yum command to install software packages, such as:
  13. Install the PACKAGE_NAME using yum.
