Ubuntu Partitioning Guide: Space Allocation
When installing Ubuntu, you have the option to partition space on your hard drive. Here are the steps you can follow:
- Select the “custom installation” option during the installation of Ubuntu.
- On the partition page, you will see the partition status of the disk. If your disk does not yet have partitions, click the “Create Partition” button.
- Allocate space for Ubuntu based on your needs. Typically, you will need to allocate a certain amount of space for the root directory (/), as well as space for swap and /home directories.
- Clicking on the “Apply” button will save your partition settings to the disk.
- Next, you can proceed to install Ubuntu and follow the prompts to complete the installation process.
Please ensure that when allocating space, you do not damage the partitions of other operating systems and leave enough space for Ubuntu to use. It is recommended to allocate at least 10GB of space for the root directory, allocate swap space equivalent to your actual memory, and allocate the remaining space for the /home directory.
