SQL Server LEN Function: Quick Guide
In SQL Server, the LEN function is used to return the number of characters in a specified string. The syntax for using the LEN function is as follows:
SELECT LEN(column_name) FROM table_name;
In the above syntax, column_name refers to the name of the column for which the character count is to be calculated, while table_name refers to the name of the table containing that column.
For example, if you want to calculate the character count of each value in a column named “name,” you can use the following query:
SELECT LEN(name) FROM employees;
This will return the character count of each value in the name column in the employees table.
