What is the method for setting up a local yum repository on CentOS 7?

In CentOS 7, you can set up a local yum repository by following these steps:

  1. Install the necessary software packages.
  2. Please install Apache and the EPEL repository using the command “sudo yum install -y httpd epel-release”.
  3. Set up a local yum repository directory.
  4. Create a directory named “x86_64” within the “/var/www/html/centos/7/os” directory, using sudo command to ensure proper permissions.
  5. Copy the installation media of CentOS 7 to the local yum repository directory.
  6. Use the “sudo” command to mount the CDROM device to the “/media” directory, and then copy all contents of the CDROM to the “/var/www/html/centos/7/os/x86_64/” directory.
  7. Set up the Apache HTTP Server to provide a local yum repository.
  8. Open the centos-yum.conf file located in /etc/httpd/conf.d/ using the vi editor with superuser privileges.
  9. Add the following content to the document:
  10. Alias the directory /var/www/html/centos/7/os/x86_64 as /centos/7/os/x86_64 and allow all users to access it with Indexes and FollowSymLinks options.
  11. Start the Apache HTTP Server service and set it to start automatically on boot.
  12. Start and enable the httpd service using systemctl.
  13. Set up the local machine to use the local yum repository.
  14. please open the “local.repo” file in the directory “/etc/yum.repos.d/” using the text editor “vi” with administrator privileges
  15. Add the following content to the document:
  16. [local]
    title=Local CentOS 7 Repository
    website=http://localhost/centos/7/os/x86_64
    active=1
    verify_gpg=0
  17. Clear and rebuild the yum cache.
  18. Clear all cached packages using sudo yum clean all, then refresh the package cache using sudo yum makecache.

Once the above steps are completed, the local machine can use the locally built yum repository to install and update software packages.
