In PHP, you can encode a string using the base64_encode() function and decode the encoded string using the base64_decode() function.

Example of coding:

$string = "Hello, world!";
$encodedString = base64_encode($string);
echo $encodedString;

Decoding example:

$encodedString = "SGVsbG8sIHdvcmxkIQ==";
$decodedString = base64_decode($encodedString);
echo $decodedString;

Output:

Hello, world!
