Find File Location in Windows – Quick Guide

To locate the position of the file, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open File Explorer (typically in Windows systems, this is done by pressing the Win + E shortcut).
  2. Navigate to the folder containing the file you are looking for.
  3. Use the search bar in File Explorer (usually located in the top right corner of the window) to type in the file name, in order to quickly filter the search results.
  4. If the desired file is found in the search results, you will see the location of the file displayed in the “Location” column of the search results list.
  5. Click the location of the file or right-click on the file and select the option “Open file location” to open the folder where the file is located in the File Explorer.

Additionally, you can use command line tools to find the location of a file. For example, in a Windows system, using the “dir” command can list all files and subfolders in a specified folder. You can use the “cd” command to change the current directory, and then use the “dir” command to view the files in that directory.
