Oracle 11g Installation Guide: Setup & Config
Here is a detailed installation and configuration tutorial for Oracle 11g.
Install the Oracle 11g database software.
- Download the Oracle 11g database software installation package and unzip it to a directory.
- Run the “setup.exe” file in the extracted folder to start the installation program.
- On the “Select Installation Type” page of the setup program, choose the “Create and Configure Database” option, and then click “Next”.
- On the “System Category” page, select the “Server Class” option, and then click “Next”.
- Choose the language you want to use on the “Product Language” page, then click “Next”.
- On the “Database Configuration Type” page, select the “Custom” option, and then click “Next”.
- On the “Customize Database” page, choose the “Create new database” option, and then click on “Next”.
- On the “Select Database Configuration” page, choose the “Typical” option, then click “Next”.
- On the “Database Identifier” page, give your database a unique name and choose a directory to store the database files. Then click “Next”.
- On the “Management Options” page, choose the “Create Database” option and provide a username and password for an administrator user. Then click “Next”.
- On the “Database File Location” page, choose a directory to store the database files and log files. Then click “Next”.
- On the “Application Information” page, enter a global database name and a system identifier. Then click on “Next”.
- On the “Installation Options” page, select the components and options you want to install. Then click “Next”.
- Verify your configuration settings on the “Check Options” page, and then click “Next”.
- On the “Summary” page, review your settings and click “Finish” to begin the installation process.
- Wait for the installation program to finish, then click “Next”.
- On the “Installation Complete” page, select the “Create Database” option and click “Finish” to exit the installation program.
Set up Oracle 11g database.
- Open the “Start” menu, locate the Oracle 11g database software folder, and open the “Oracle 11g Configuration and Management Tools”.
- Choose “Database Configuration Assistant” in the configuration and management tool.
- In the Database Configuration Wizard, select “Configure Database Options”.
- On the “Configuration Options” page, select the “Create Database” option, and then click “Next.”
- On the “Database Identifier” page, enter a unique name for the database and a system identifier. Then, click on “Next”.
